2004 ILLAWARRA COMBINED ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS..

Played at Bulli Tennis Centre on Sunday 7th November, 2004 a tight schedule of both singles and doubles events was packed into one day. The event ran very smoothly and a good day was had by all. The Open Mens Singles had some excellent tennis and close matches, with 17 year old Matthew Mazur from Gwyneville knocking off the more experienced and previous title holder Owen Rice in the final to win his first title.
The number of entries in the Ladies Open event was a little disappointing, but not for the Macquire sisters, Krista and Tiffany, who fought out the final and the prize money between themselves. The Ladies title was eventually won by Tiffany Macquire from Corrimal, defeating her twin sibling in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Bulli & Districts Tennis Association congratulates the winners of each event, and looks forward to hosting the 2007 Championships. The 2005 event is due to be hosted by Kiama Association, followed by Wollongong in 2006.
